Cyberbullying

The article I read was, Cyber-Bullying: Taking on the Tormentors. In this article I read about this girl who was 12 years old and jumped to her death because she was bullied. The two tormentors who were 14 years old were both charged with aggravated stalking. Cyber bulling is bullying over the internet or using technology to do harm to someone else, by constantly harassing and or threatening them. For example, someone sending a person a mean or embarrassing text message. Also which could be sent through email or spread by maybe false rumors. A solution to this problem is the person decides to do something about the issue by defending themselves.

AI and Robotics

The article I read was, When Robots Can Kill, it's Unclear Who Will Be To Blame. While reading this article I learned how dangerous they can be if they are assigned to kill people, and if they make a mistake. For example, the movie iRobot and Robocop when the robots turned on people and began killing them. I think the one's to blame are the manufacturer's and the developers. The article mentioned the military. I think t.he military would get the larges benefit from a robotic solider, like in the movie Robocop they could use the robot as fighters to go to war in the place of soldiers. I also learned while reading this article that these Robots would be able to open doors and drive cars. I cannot wait to see this in reality for myself like a robotic teacher or a robotic taxi driver driving a car like in the movie Total Recall. I believe some robots can do what humans cans such as the Terminator, even though he did things better than a normal human. I think humans are more likely to make errors because we humans always make mistakes at a time in our life.

Legal and Ethical Issues

The article I read was, Open source textbook program expanding in coming months. I thought this article was great for a few reasons. As stated in the article, "This is not going to be cheaper, but our vision has technology in everyone’s hands,” he said. “We have said we’re not buying textbooks, but we will spend the same, if not more money, on technology.” I learned the school system are trying to become more advance. The school system invested a lot of time trying to develop a better system that will be beneficial. For the students and teachers because I believe the students  prefer  to do online homework than reading a book. I see this open source text book program as a way to help the students become more involved in doing there work. Also since these kids are so advance in technology already it is good way to teach them, because the students would maybe find enjoyment from reading on an open source instead of from a textbook. Besides that, the open source would constantly update unlike having to constantly buy new textbooks it would be more convenient.

Security and Privacy

I read the article, Target works on security-heavy credit cards, after breach. While reading this article I learned Target system was hacked. I also learned Target is now beefing up there security. I learned they are going to speed up there high-security credit cards. It was shocking to me a large cooperation as Target being hacked. I also cannot wait to see there new credit cards with the embedded microprocessor chip. Also as everything else is advancing it is now time for a more advance credit and debit card. I believe the main problem is because of technology. As it is constantly advancing and cybercriminals are becoming smarter and better equipped. As the article stated, "When first introduced, that stripe was an innovation. But in today's world, more is needed". I agree because "more is needed" it is the time for a more advance credit card and transaction system. I believe this will be an incredible next generation technology for security and society purposes. I hope the credit card creators continue advancing there cards and becoming more advance as cell phones have over the years.

World Wide Web

The article I read was, The Windy City Teams with Microsoft on Cloud Strategy. The cloud is I believe servers that allow access to the internet in a public or private area. The clouds are consider a community cloud or a hybrid cloud. According to, The Windy City Teams with Microsoft on Cloud Strategy Rahm Emanuel will transfer 30,000 Chicago employees to Microsoft Office 365. I think everything in the future will be using some kind of cloud to get access to everything that is on the internet.

Networks and Communication

Study: Texting while walking affects your balance

Asynchronous and Synchronous are both used to communicate. Emailing is used to send a message electronically. Texting is used to text someone using a cell phone and is  faster then having to call if you are busy. For example, you are in class and unable to talk, so a person could decide to text "in class can't talk". Rather then leaving the class and distracting others. Synchronous such as Skype can be used to communicate using video chat, chatting with people long distance without being charged. Another one is IM which is similar to Skype.  I think Asynchronous is when a person is not able to see the other person whom they are chatting with, but Synchronous a person is able to see the other person. The article I read was "Texting while walking affects your balance" I learned texting while walking can be very dangerous. In the article it stated, "people who type or read on their phones while walking are less likely to look at their surroundings, keep their balance or walk in a straight line."  I seen a woman in the video walk into a sink hole, and another woman whom walked into a water fountain. .

"Classroom technology effective when used as additional tool"

My name is Johnny Thrower, and the article I read was "Classroom technology effective when used as additional tool". I learned a lot from reading this article. I learned how important tweeting, blogging and using power point all are beneficial to the students leaning. For example, a course can be integrated into blogs by teaching the students how to be more engage. Also teaching them other Web 2.0 technologies as well. For example, I recently learned how to use Paint.net, and I never heard of Paint.net until my computers and society class. I now know how to use Paint.net which is great to use. I can incorporate what I've learned and use it to my advantage to post special effect pictures onto FB or any other Web 2.0 websites and also teach my family and friends about Paint.net.
