Security and Privacy

I read the article, Target works on security-heavy credit cards, after breach. While reading this article I learned Target system was hacked. I also learned Target is now beefing up there security. I learned they are going to speed up there high-security credit cards. It was shocking to me a large cooperation as Target being hacked. I also cannot wait to see there new credit cards with the embedded microprocessor chip. Also as everything else is advancing it is now time for a more advance credit and debit card. I believe the main problem is because of technology. As it is constantly advancing and cybercriminals are becoming smarter and better equipped. As the article stated, "When first introduced, that stripe was an innovation. But in today's world, more is needed". I agree because "more is needed" it is the time for a more advance credit card and transaction system. I believe this will be an incredible next generation technology for security and society purposes. I hope the credit card creators continue advancing there cards and becoming more advance as cell phones have over the years.

  1. I agree I was very surprised as well. But I got a feeling that Target did not focus TOO much at security because people will mostly go to the actual store and pay in cash. It's a store not a computer corporation. But that doesn't mean that their security has to be below standards

  2. Yeah I agree, it's time for and upgrade. However there will always be a way to get hold of these things physically and electronically.

  3. The microprocessor chip may be a potential in determining/preventing thefts in the future.

  4. It is time for a new system regarding transactions systems however, I think it must go farther than just new chips in a credit card. There will always be a way to hack the system and new security procedures do not stay unbreakable for to long. What really needs to happen is that these companies need to ensure the people the employ do not haphazardly follow security protocols when sensitive information is always at risk. Until this is the case, it will not matter what system is instilled. Human error and laziness will always topple any new security measure.

  5. I strongly agree that it's been a tremendous surprised on how target system got hacked, but how is it a problem due to cyber-criminals.
